Girls Left In The Woods Become Archaeologists Out Now
Girls Left in the Woods Become Archaeologists is the debut collection of 24 essays and poems by Katerina Zherebtsova.
These works are reflections on being a woman, a mother, growing older, being a foreigner, and reconciling childhood fairytales with feminism. They are also contemplations of the themes she witnesses: the rise in femicides, abortion bans, environmental anxiety, the expansion of nationalism and authoritarianism, and the ‘us vs other’ divide.
This is a collection of personal archaeology and digging into life around her for the answers.
‘A fairylike pop collection of poems about what it means to become a woman in a trick world. K. Z.’s crystal clear and generous voice speaks to those who want to reclaim their own thread of the story.’
Dimitra Ioannou, poet, author, publisher of A) GLIMPSE) OF)
‘This is an original and very fresh way of writing. With simple words, she says difficult and important things about self, society, of life.’
Chrisoxeni Prokopaki, writer and publisher of Stixis Editions
‘I enjoyed the personal memories and everyday observations that build up to bigger themes and societal issues.’
Rowena Hughes, artist and poet
'She doesn’t flinch, and neither will you—because you can’t look away. This is the truth, bleeding and brilliant.’
Fani Charitaki, owner of Booktique
